In order to understand the influence of a suspected steel slag yard on groundwater in Maanshan city and provide basis on the protection or treatment of the regional water environment, the groundwater investigation was carried out.The results showed that about 1.26 million m3 of dumping steel slag can pollute groundwater to different degrees. The pH value of groundwater in the first aquifer in the landfill area is high, ranging from 11.41 to 12.24,which is significantly higher than that of the comparison point water sample(7.87).The total hardness index is significantly higher than the comparison point.Compared with the Groundwater Quality Standard(GB/T 14848—2017),the water sample belongs to Class V in terms of pH value and total hardness. The other indexes basically meet ClassⅢand above water quality standards. The groundwater in the steel slag area of the second aquifer flows to downstream monitoring wells,so the pH value is higher than the background value. The other indexes basically meet ClassⅡand above water quality standards.
