摘  要:The chloroplast genomes of land plants encode 11 genes(ndhA-ndhK)for proteins similar to the subunits of respiratory complex I(NADH dehydrogenase)with some exceptions.It was a mystery why the chloroplast genomes encode the genes related to respiratory electron transport.We understand now that the genes encode the subunits of the chloroplast NADH dehydrogenaselike(NDH)complex mediating the antimycin A-resistant pathway of cyclic electron transport around photosystem I(Peltier et al.,2016).This year,cryo-EM images of the NDH complex associated with two copies of photosystem I(PSI)complex(NDH-PSI supercomplex)from barley(Shen et al.,2022)and Arabidopsis(Su et al.,2022)were published.The chloroplast NDH complex may not be the complex enigma in both physiological function and structure.Here I briefly summarize what is clear and what is left unanswered focusing on the structural aspect.
