摘　　要：Integrative Zoology began in 2006 as a voice for the newly formed International Society of Zoologists.A decade later,it has clearly achieved this,and very much more,for it is now successfully placed within the top quartile of journals in zoological sciences.It has been the ability of Integrative Zoology to at­tract diverse research-not only in zoology but also in related(and sometimes“distantly”related)disciplines that has marked its success.The choice to include inte­grated in the journal’s name was truly inspirational;in­deed,I believe that this decision is at the heart of the success of the journal.Today’s zoology has moved to embrace the relationships that the animal kingdom has with plants,with geology,the built environment and with culture;without this,zoology would have changed little since the 19th century.We are now a diverse dis­cipline that has accepted,and is taking a significant role in,the sustainable management of the Earth’s biosphere.Zoologists are able to achieve this through guidance in formulation of policy and legislation,and through the application of science to solve problems.And Integra­tive Zoology can rightfully claim that it has become a vehicle for both emerging and senior zoologists to take part in this process.
