Objective To construct a specimen collection protocol for assessment of urine metabolism in adult urolithiasis patients in clinical practice, and to improve the cognitive level of medical staff on specialized examination, and improve the qualified rate of specimen collection. Methods By referencing to Joanna Briggs Institute(JBI)model for evidence-based healthcare,a clinical application of the best evidences were implemented in three steps, namely baseline quality review, best evidence clinical application and second round of quality review from April 2020 to March 2021,and the scores of medical staff knowledge before and after evidence application and urine metabolic samples were compared. Results The medical cognition level and the qualified rate of specimen collection were both improved after the best evidence application. Conclusions There is a large gap between the evidence collection of urine metabolic assessment specimens in adult patients with urolithiasis, and the evidence-based practice is conducive to the effective transformation of evidence to clinical practice.
