摘　　要：To the Editor: Hong Kong is a place with a high standard of medical and obstetrical cares. One of the major indicators of health care standard is the rate of maternal death. Over the past few decades, the maternal mortality ratio (MMR) has been gradually decreasing in Hong Kong.[1] The MMR in Hong Kong, China, was 1.7 in the year 2017, which was lower than or similar to many other high-income countries: the MMR in South Korea was 11, Singapore 8, Japan 5, United Kingdom 7, Australia 6, and Italy and Norway 2.
