摘　　要：《我父亲的梦想》是美国前总统奥巴马的回忆录,该书中文版存在不少语言和文化方面的错误,其中一个典型例子就是译者把具有丰富文化信息的white blood(白人血统)误解为white blood cell(白血球)。在美国文化中,white blood被认为是白人种族的区别性特征。但对于不同类型的黑白混血儿来说,白人血统具有不同的象征意义。奴隶制下的黑白混血儿是性剥削的产物,反族际混血法存续期间出生的黑白混血儿被视为私生子,因此对于这两类黑白混血儿来说,其身上的白人血统是耻辱的标签。但随着1967年美国最高法院宣布反族际混血法违宪,黑白通婚现象合法化,以奥巴马为代表的黑白混血儿不再以自己身上的白人血统为耻。部分黑白混血儿甚至要求建立具有包容性、能够反映其血统混杂性的“多重种族身份”类别。In the Chinese version of Dreams from My Father:A Story of Race and Inheritance,a memoir written by the former U.S.President Obama,there are quite a few linguistic and cultural errors.A typical example is“white blood,”which is mistaken by the translator for“white blood cell.”In American culture,white blood is regarded as a distinguishing feature of the white race.But white blood has different symbolic meanings for different types of black-white people.Those born under American racial slavery were products of sexual exploitation,and those born under anti-miscegenation laws were illegitimate offspring,hence white blood as a mark of shame.With the annulment of such laws by the Supreme Court in 1967,the interracial marriage between white and black has become lawful,so for those represented by Barack Obama,white blood is no longer a shame.Some black-whites even demand the establishment of“multiracial”as an inclusive racial category which can recognize their blood hybridity.
