To understand the temperature field formed by laser irradiation of carbon fiber(CF) under liquid phase conditions and its relationship with related process parameters,a physical model of the CF bundle subjected to laser irradiation was constructed. The multi-physics coupling analysis software ANSYS was used to analyze the laser irradiation.Numerical simulation of the temperature field of the CF in the illumination flow field was performed. The temperature distribution and the relationship curve between the temperature distribution and the laser power and the fiber moving speed were calculated. The results shown that the surface temperature distribution of the CF during modification mainly depended on the laser power and fiber moving speed.Simulations have found that the temperature of the CF during modification can be improved by increasing the laser power and reducing the fiber moving speed. When the CF surface was modified by laser in the air,the temperature rised rapidly until the fiber breaked. When the CF was modified by underwater laser, the fiber temperature distribution was controlled within a range, and the degree of the CF modification was more stable and sufficient.
