What I see and hear in the terraced field in China

摘　　要：梯田是世界上许多地区都存在的一种土地利用形式。它被视为最令人惊叹的人类改造地表形态的方式之一。今天,世界上的梯田都面临着如何维系的难题,特别是在传统的农业国度。福兮?祸兮?难以遽然下结论。在此前的工作中,我曾考察过国内为数不少的梯田。在此,我试图将考察梯田过程中的所见所闻呈现给大家,希望能为判断梯田这种独特耕作类型的未来走向提供一个视角。Terracing is a way for use of land across many regions around the world and it is considered as one of the most amazing ways to transform the earth’s surface by human. Today, terraced field around the world is facing a difficulty:how to maintain it. Is it a blessing or misfortune for us in the future? It depends, and is difficult to make a correct judge hastily. I have investigated in a number of terraced field areas in China in my previous work. Here I try to present what I saw and heard in my investigations, and hope to offer a perspective for judgement of the future of terraced field as a special type of tillage.
