摘　　要：矛盾冲突是小说创作普遍运用的手法,是形成故事情节的重要基础,也是推动情节发展的重要动力,对于展现人物命运、塑造人物形象、表现小说主题、引发读者思考等具有重要意义。欧·亨利的短篇小说《警察与赞美诗》正是通过精心构思多层次、多角度的矛盾冲突,在矛盾冲突中揭示主人公苏比的悲剧命运,深刻揭示了社会现实的残酷与不公。在具体的教学中,矛盾分析为《警察与赞美诗》的主题教学提供了重要切入口。Contradiction and conflict is a widely used technique in novel creation. It is not only an important basis for forming the story plot, but also an important driving force to promote the development of the plot. It is of great significance to show the fate of the characters, shape the characters, express the theme of the novel, and arouse the readers’ thinking. O. Henry’s short story The Police and the Hymn reveals the tragic fate of the protagonist soapy and deeply reveals the cruelty and injustice of social reality through elaborating multi-level and multi angle contradictions and conflicts. In the specific teaching, contradiction analysis provides an important entry point of text analysis for the theme teaching of The Police and the Hymn.
