《女狱花》与近代日本佛教东来

摘　　要：1904年问世的《女狱花》,历来被视为晚清讲女权、兴女学的重要小说。学界此前对作者王妙如知之甚少,更未考查深度参与《女狱花》文本生成的罗景仁。罗景仁为王妙如之夫,曾就读于日本东本愿寺创办的杭州日文学堂。该学堂新学氛围浓厚,也是日本净土真宗在华传教的渗透枢纽之一。据此,《女狱花》中的新学知识与佛教细节得以双双“解码”。王妙如的女权思想源自佛教“众生平等、无二差别”的平等观,在实践层面秉持大乘佛教的“菩萨道”精神,同时融入日本佛教传统中的救国理念与兴学特色。在近代东亚佛教格局的冲突与重构中,不仅能揭橥晚清女性的艰难探索与跋涉,更能抉发日本佛教对近代中国思想影响的一脉潜流。Nv yuhua published in 1904, is viewed as a significant novel for the feminism and women education in the late Qing Dynasty. Previously in the academic world, we had little knowledge about its author, Wang Miaoru, as well as Luo Jingren, who had been deeply involved in the production of Beautiful Women in Prison. Luo Jingren, Wang’s husband, studied at Hangzhou Japanese school founded by Higashi Hongan-ji temple. The school had a strong atmosphere of modern western learning and was one of the hubs for the jodo shinshu’s(True Pure Land sect of Buddhism) spread in China, thus from which we can decode the knowledge of western learning and the details of Buddhism in Beautiful Women in Prison. Wang Miaoru’s feminist idea originated from the thought of equality in Buddhism – “all living being are equal and there is no difference, ” inheriting the spirit of “Bodhisattva path” of Mahayana Buddhism with the concept of saving the nation and the features of western learning in Japanese Buddhist tradition. Based on the conflict and reconstruction of the pattern of Buddhism in modern East Asia, this paper will reveal women’s exploration and struggle in late Qing Dynasty, and disclose the influence of Japanese Buddhism on modern Chinese thought.
