In order to study the morphological structure of the liver in swine embryos at different developmental stages, swine embryos of(2.3±0.2)g,(5.6±0.8)g,(29.6±4.2)g,(84.8±15.2)g,(500±26.5)g and(1250±50.1)g swine embryos were selected. The paraffin sections of the liver tissues were obtained and stained with H-E and were observed under a light microscope. The results showed that the outline of the blood vessels was initially formed in the liver of the 2.3 g swine embryos.Embryonic central veins were found in the embryonic liver tissue, and the liver plate was formed in the 5.6 g swine embryos. With the development of the embryo, the sinusoids of the liver were enlarged and then decreased. The hematopoietic areas were increased and then decreased. In the 500 g swine embryos, the hemato⁃poietic foci were not observed and the portal area was formed. In the 1250 g swine embryos, the hepatic lobule was generally formed. The connective tissues in the liver were still scarce and the boundary between the hepatic lobules was still not obvious. This experiment provided histomorphologic basis for research on the development of liver in the embryonic stage of swine.
