The liver can obtain lipids from the circulation, synthesize and secrete lipoproteins in lipids into the blood, and play a central role in the homeostasis of systemic metabolism. Very low-density lipoprotein(VLDL) is the main secretion product of the liver, and its main role is to transport endogenously synthesized lipids, such as triglycerides(TG), to peripheral tissues. Apolipoprotein B100(ApoB100), as the major and essential protein in VLDL particles, which is mainly regulated by co-and post-translational degradation, unlike the synthesis of most hepatic secreted proteins. The article summarizes the effect of ApoB100 on the synthesis and secretion of VLDL in the liver of dairy cows through degradation and autophagy, as well as the related research of ApoB100 in veterinary clinics, in order to provide a reference for future related research.
