论赛珍珠《大地三部曲》中的火车意象

摘　　要：火车形象在《大地三部曲》中多次出现,这绝非偶然,这是作者赛珍珠结合个人长期的中国农村生活经验和观察的结果,同时也是作者在对东西方文化长期思考之后的独特发现。火车意象在《大地三部曲》中的艺术表达具有两方面的价值和意义,一方面是时代新生事物的象征,蕴含着无法阻挡的社会发展动力,另一方面是小说中重要的艺术形象之一,对于场景的勾画、人物内心世界的传达以及典型环境的塑造具有重要的艺术价值。赛珍珠将火车这一现代物引入素来被视为中国问题核心所在的土地中,可以说火车凝结着赛珍珠对于破解当时中国现实困境的期待与预判。It is by no means universal that the train image appears many times in The Earth Trilogy.This is the result of the author Pearl Buck′s long-term observation combined with her long-term experience of rural life in China,and it is also the author′s unique discovery after long-term thinking of Eastern and Western cultures.The artistic expression of the train image has two aspects of value and significance in The Earth Trilogy.It is the symbol of the new things of the times containing an irresistible driving force for social development,and is also one of the important artistic images in the novel,which has important artistic value for the sketch of the scene,the communication of the characters′inner world and the shaping of the typical environment.Pearl S.Buck introduces the modern train into the land that has always been regarded as the core of China′s problem,which can be said that the train condenses Pearl Buck′s expectations and prediction for solving the real dilemma of China at that time.
