This study explored the genesis of malignant gastrointestinal tumors from the channel theory of tradi⁃tional Chinese medicine(TCM),which believes that uncontrolled qi transformation of sanjiao(三焦)channels, and abnormal transportation of water, grain, essence and source qi are the core pathogenesis.Dysfunction of gastrointesti⁃nal structural channels leads to ying-wei(营卫)disharmony,and blocked channels and collaterals cause disharmony of qi and blood, which is considered to be the important pathogenesis. The imbalance between substance transforma⁃tion and energy metabolism is a key factor to the dysfunction of channels and thereby leading to the occurrence of ma⁃lignant gastrointestinal tumors. In summary, the cognitive framework of malignant gastrointestinal tumors has been proposed, taking sanjiao channel as the core and supplemented with meridian channels and local tissues and organs, which can provide a theoretical basis for systematically optimizing the theory of TCM tumorigenesis and giving precise differentiation and treatment.
