Among developing economies,African, being a region of rich natural resources, has a huge investment potential with its market underexploited.Yet,the investment environments vary greatly due to the great discrepancy of African countries’political and economic backgrounds. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for investors.Hence,it is of vital importance to comprehensively evaluate the investment climates of African countries. The 2020 index data of African countries is analyzed to construct an investment environmental evaluation system of African countries and present a comprehensive evaluation ranking of 51 African countries.Based on the comprehensive evaluation scores, the African countries are classified into four major categories according the clustering analysis;reasons for the differences between the categories are explored. Finally,a spatial autocorrelation analysis is done to study the spatial correlation situations of African countries’investment environments. The results show that the development situations of African countries differ greatly;countries with good geographical locations and plentiful products and resources usually have better investment environments;and that there is no obvious spatial correlation in terms of their investment environments.
