摘　　要：《塔西佗》是英国罗马史家罗纳德·塞姆的第二部专著,代表着塞姆学术生涯的最高成就。《塔西佗》继承了《罗马革命》中的英国人文主义叙事史学传统,发展完善了其中的人物志研究方法。在传统古典语文学和语言学转向新时代背景的双重影响下,《塔西佗》中的文本分析采取了折中主义的立场。时至今日,塞姆的《塔西佗》仍是塔西佗研究与早期罗马帝国史研究领域的必读参考书,对拉丁史学研究的未来发展方向提供着宝贵启示。The Tacitus is the second monograph of Ronald Syme,the British historian on Roman history.It represents the highest achievement of Syme’s academic career.The Tacitus inherits the British humanist narrative historiography in The Roman Revolution,and developed its prosopography.Influenced by both the traditional classical philology and the contemporary trend of the Linguistic Turn,the textual analysis in the Tacitus adopts one type of eclecticism.Today,Syme’s Tacitus remains a key reference for the study of Tacitus the historian and the early Roman Empire,and provides valuable clues for the further study of the Latin historiography.
