19世纪前英国文学中对“黄河文化”的崇拜与书写

摘　　要：英国文学中不乏关于“黄河文化”的书写,这些文献记录着英国文人学者认识黄河和“黄河文化”的过程,以及随时间推移他们态度的转变,但至今却极少有系统化的研究聚焦于英国视野中这一璀璨的区域性文化。通过对作品的阅读整理,笔者发现,从14世纪“黄河文化”首现至18世纪末,英国作家借想象的画笔描摹出“黄河文化”的轮廓,构想出一个足以刺激自身发展的“乌托邦”;以黄河流域优越的社会制度和哲学思想为典范,反思自身的国家治理和道德文化;以黄河边的农业工具为意象,丰富作品的文学表达。19世纪前英国作品对“黄河文化”虽多是正面的崇拜和褒扬,但这种崇尚却被限制在言他物以服务自身的思维框架中,反射出“黄河文化”在以西方为主体的视角下被工具化的身份。Writings about the"Yellow River Culture"are traceable in English literature,and these works recorded the process of British literati came to learn the Yellow River and its culture,as well as their varying attitudes over time.However,few systematic studies hitherto have focused on this profound and brilliant regional culture in British literary works.Our research showed that,from the 14th century to the end of the 18th century,the sketch of the"Yellow River Culture"enabled British writers to conceive a utopia to stimulate domestic development.The appreciation of the superior social system and philosophy along the Yellow River enforced their reflection on their national governance,moralities and culture.Besides,the imagery of agricultural tools in this area enriched their own literary expressions.Although the"Yellow River Culture"in their writings before the 19th century was mostly worshiped and lauded,the reverence was confined to the mindset of serving oneself by introducing another,reflecting the role of the"Yellow River Culture"as an instrument from a western-oriented perspective.
