2.1%。As the primary parameter of traffic signal control, signal cycle plays a key role in timing. However, most signal timing methods focus on the optimization of green splits and offset, and the classical Webster timing method is still used in calculating the cycle. Therefore, based on the multi intersection coordinated control of traffic arterial road, this paper studies the parameter public cycle in signal timing. Firstly, the influence of adjacent intersection’s spacing on the signal cycle is considered, and then the adjustable range of public cycle is determined by fitting the relationship between signal cycle, vehicle delay and capacity; The bi-objective model of vehicle delay and capacity in public cycle is established, which is solved by genetic algorithm in MATLAB under constraints; Finally,an arterial system composed of four intersections is built in the micro traffic simulation platform VISSIM to verify the proposed method. The simulation results show that compared with the improved F-B method, the proposed public cycle optimization method reduces vehicle delay by 11. 2% and increases traffic capacity by 2. 1%.
