Activated carbon owning a better adsorption performance as adsorbent was screened out firstly from activated carbon,diatomite,ZSM-5 zeolite, artificial zeolite and other common porous materials. The pore structure and surface functional groups of activated carbon were regulated by acid and alkali modification methods, and the adsorption effect of TDA tar on modified activated carbon was studied by static adsorption experiment. The results showed that the pore structure of activated carbon mainly affected the total adsorption capacity for TDA tar, while the surface functional groups of activated carbon significantly affected the adsorption selectivity for TDA,and the acidic groups were beneficial to enhance the selectivity of TDA.Under the optimal conditions, the adsorption selectivity for TDA of CH_(3)COOH modified activated carbon could reach more than 98%,and the adsorption process of activated carbon modified was controlled by chemical adsorption.
