As a chronic metabolic disease, obesity has attracted more and more attention due to its health risks.Excessive food consumption, sedentary way of life, high sugar consumption,fat-rich diet, and certain genetic profile may lead to obesity. As consumers pay more attention to health and body shape, the demand for weight loss has become increasingly prominent. This review summarizes the latest developments in the relationship between gut microbes and obesity, assesses important biological molecular mechanisms underlying the impact of gut microbiota on hosts including bile salt metabolism,short-chain fatty acids, and metabolic endotoxemia, and explores the possible mechanism of probiotics regulating obesity. In addition, the weight loss prospects and existing problems of probiotics are also discussed in the article.
