大英博物院图书馆的汉学家“德格乐”考述

摘　　要：在整理《走向世界丛书》及其续编有关“德格乐”记述的基础上,通过考证还原了“德格乐”的真实身份,即大英博物院图书馆掌管东方书籍的罗伯特·肯纳威·道格拉斯(Robert Kennaway Douglas)。作为英国19世纪最重要的汉学家之一,道格拉斯出版了《中国的语言与文学》《成吉思汗传》《李鸿章传》等10部汉学相关著作,在《英国传记大辞典》《大英百科全书》中撰写了与中国有关的词条,对大英博物院图书馆内的中文书籍进行收集与编目,在英国图书馆学、汉学领域以及中英书籍交流方面均作出了巨大贡献。By sorting out From East to West: Chinese Travellers Before 1911 and its sequel about “Degele”, the author makes a textual research to restore his true identity, that is, Robert Kennaway Douglas, who is in charge of Oriental books department in the British Museum Library. As one of the most important sinologists in Britain in the 19 th century, Douglas published 10 Sinology related works such as Chinese Language and Literature, Biography of Genghis Khan and Biography of Li Hongzhang, wrote entries related to China in the Great Dictionary of British Biography and Encyclopedia Britannica, and collected and catalogued Chinese books in the library of the British Museum, which is a great contribution to the academic fields of both Library Science and Sinology circles, as well as book exchanges between China and Britain.
