Mobility is the focus of Murdoch’s The Unicorn, which showing the limitations of rational egoists in cognizing the self and others from two perspectives. On the one hand,Murdoch illustrates through embodied mobility that rational egoists are trying to escape the real world of contingency, and their excessive ego prevents them from forming the right cognition of surrounding people and things. On the other hand,Murdoch shows through the mobility of landscape that egoists are deeply trapped in the fantasy world constructed by themselves, and they cannot get rid of egocentrism.Mobility research studies the mobile subject in its perception and interaction with the self, surroundings, and the world, which is in line with Murdoch examines the self in the novel with the relationship with others and the world. Both are concerned with the state and interaction of the self in social interaction with others and the world.By drawing on mobility theory, this paper analyzes the relationship of Murdoch’s self, others, surroundings, and the world from two perspective:embodied mobility and mobility of landscape.Murdoch shows that, the world we are living is a world of contingency, only by going out of the fantasy world, can egocentrism be overcome, can the right cognition of the self, others, and the world be formed.
