摘 要:作为近代中国出版业暨民族出版业代表的商务印书馆,为中国文化建设和大众启蒙做出了卓越贡献。商务印书馆以推动中国文化的现代化构建和发展为己任,广泛引进西学新知,同时积极探索跨文化出版,将中华文化向西方世界传播。商务印书馆的译介行动有效地促进了中西方文化的双向交流。文章梳理了商务印书馆从1897年成立至1949年新中国成立前面向欧美读者出版的主要英文图书状貌,探析我国近代出版业开展“中学西传”的特征,为当今出版业对外传播中国文化提供了历史经验的借鉴。As the representative of modern Chinese national publishing industry,the Commercial Press has made outstanding contributions to the construction of Chinese culture and mass enlightenment.The Commercial Press takes promoting the modernization and development of Chinese culture as its own responsibility,widely introduces new knowledge of Western learning,and actively explores cross-cultural publishing to spread Chinese culture to the Western world.The translation and introduction of the Commercial Press has effectively promoted the two-way cultural exchanges between China and the West.This article sorts out the main English books for European and American readers published by the Commercial Press from its establishment in 1897 to 1949,analyzes the characteristics of“the Westward transmission of Chinese learning”in China’s modern national publishing industry,and provides historical experience for the current publishing industry to spread Chinese culture to the outside world.
