威弗莱性格形成原因分析

摘　　要：威弗莱性格优柔寡断、摇摆不定,但最终还是找到了人生理想。其性格形成是因为家庭、教育以及时代和作家的原因导致的:家庭因素是因为两个家庭是割裂的,分别是代表新兴资产阶级的父母家和代表旧贵族的伯父家;教育则是因为放任自流的学习教育,没有精神导师和不完整的情感教育;时代和作家因素是因为18世纪中期,苏格兰彻底融入资本主义的大潮以及司各特对于贵族传统的依恋。Waverley was indecisive and vacillating,but eventually found his life’s purpose.The formation of his character is caused by his family,education,times and writers.The family factor is because the two families are divided,namely,the parents’family representing the emerging bourgeoisie and the uncle’s family representing the old aristocracy.Education was the result of laissez-faire learning,the absence of spiritual tutors and incomplete emotional education,the period and author factor of the mid-18th century,Scotland’s complete embrace of capitalism and Scott’s attachment to aristocratic traditions.
