摘　　要：回首我的显微外科生涯, 我曾在东格林斯特德的维多利亚皇后医院工作了3年。先是做高年资住院医师, 后与约翰·科贝特医生同为高年资主治医师。那时, 我对显微外科的兴趣开始萌芽。它源于约翰在手指血管吻合方面的成就, 以及我自己于1965年至1967年间和他一起在皇家外科学院开展的小鼠微血管吻合和肾移植的实验工作。1967年, 我在东格林斯特德首次完成了断指再植术并载于《澳大利亚医学杂志》1968年第2期第723页。Regarding my recollections of the history of microsurgery,I had spent 3 years at the Queen Victoria Hospital,East Grinstead,initially as Senior House Officer,and then as Senior Registrar concurrently with John Cobbett.During this time,my initial interest in microsurgery was aroused by John's work on digital vessel anastomoses and my own work with experimental microvascular anastomosis and renal transplantation on mice at The Royal College of Surgeons with John Cobbett during 1965,1966 and 1967.
