Sludge stabilization is an important part of wastewater treatment and the recovery and utilization of phosphorus from wastewater treatment plants is a challenge for sludge stabilization and product disposal. In this paper, nine Chinese typical sludge stabilization treatment projects were selected. The migration and transformation characteristics of phosphorus during the sludge stabilization treatment process were discussed. Furthermore, the recovery value of phosphorus in the sludge stabilization treatment process and the land use value of phosphorus in the sludge stabilization product were discussed. The results showed that the insufficient release of phosphorus to supernatant during anaerobic digestion of sludge is an important factor restricting phosphorus recovery. Phosphorus in sludge aerobic fermentation and sludge incineration products majorly remains in the solid phase, and the concentration of the phosphorus increases the recovery potential. Phosphorus in sludge stabilization product mainly exists in the from of non-apatite inorganic phosphorus.
