In order to explore the relationship and action mechanism of different coping methods in exercise and anxiety, this paper conducts a questionnaire survey on college students majoring in physical education with the Sports Activity Rating Scale, Zung’s Self Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and Simple Coping Style Scale(SCSQ), through the methods of correlation analysis and structural equation model. The results showed that:(a) exercise not only showed negative correlation(p <0.05) with anxiety, but also positively predicted positive response(p <0.05);(b) Positive coping style was negatively correlated with anxiety(p<0.01), and played a mediating role between exercise and anxiety;(c) negative response showed significant positive correlation between exercise and anxiety(p <0.01), but no mediation between exercise and anxiety. Conclusions: Exercise can not only directly affect anxiety, but also indirectly through active coping methods;College students should do appropriate exercise to improve their coping methods and improve their mental health.
