言子与常熟乡贤文化

摘　　要：常熟是国家历史文化名城,文化底蕴深厚,其乡贤文化特色鲜明。常熟素有尊言(子)学贤历史传统,民众在历史上把言子视为兼具乡贤和名宦双重身份的先贤,在文庙建立专祠祭祀,并自成轴线而呈现特色。常熟乡贤均以言子为范,认同言子为在地先师、南方儒宗,并在此基础上建构了在地儒学师承体系和祭祀体系。常熟乡贤重视子游文学传统弘扬,重视参与乡邑社会治理,重视以身立德激励后学,其传承的乡贤文化推动了常熟社会的发展,也维系着常熟文脉的绵延。Changshu is a national historical-cultural city,featuring a profound cultural heritage and distinctive local culture.Changshu enjoys a time-honored tradition of respecting Yanzi and learning from the sages.People here throughout the ages have always been holding Yanzi as both a sage a meritorious official.A special shrine was built in the local Confucian Temple to offer sacrifices,which formed its own axis and presented its own characteristics.All the local sages in Changshu regard Yanzi as their moral ethical role model,a practice based on the recognition that Yanzi was not just a local teacher but the founding father of the Southern Tradition of Confucianism.On this basis,they have built a local Confucian scholarship tradition and a sacrificial system as well.The local sages of Changshu attach importance to the promotion of the literary tradition of Zi You,participating actively in the social governance of the township and in its moral edification.The local Changshu role-model culture has promoted the development of Changshu society and also maintained the continuity of Changshu cultural vein.
