In this paper,Dongguan city is selected as the research area.Six temporal satellite remote sensing data from 1988 to 2018 are acquired to classify the wetlands.Object-oriented method combined with visual interpretation is adopted to obtain the spatial distribution information. The spatial-temporal change characteristics and driving factors are discussed. The results showthat from 1988 to 2018,the total area of wetland in Dongguan showed a trend of increasing first and then decreasing, reaching a maximum of 373.27 km^(2) in 2000,accounting for 15.38% of the total area of Dongguan. After that, the total area continuously decreased to 227.82 km^(2) in2018,accounting for 9.39% of the total area of Dongguan.During the study period, the wetland transformation characteristics of Dongguan city mainly are the river wetland loss and the conversion to non-wetland,as well as the rapid change of fish pond wetland. The analysis of driving factors shows that human activity is the most important factor influencing the wetland change in Dongguan. The analysis results can provide data support and decision support for better regulation and optimization of natural resources in Dongguan.
