摘　　要：Thematically,my novels can be broadly divided into two genres.One genre would be the zhiqing literature.Zhiqing,the educated youth,who were sent to the countryside to undergo re-education in the Cultural Revolution were a distinctive demographic created during the Down to the Countryside Movement,lived through the"Cultural Revolution."They were also the first generation born after the founding of the People's Republic of China.The literature[in the Chinese mainland]of the 1980s has been broadly characterized as"new period literature."Introspection is one of its salient characteristics.I believe that the zhiqing experience gave an entire generation a sense,whether individually or collectively,of having witnessed an exceptional era.As a young writer at that time who had experienced it for myself,it was inevitable that introspection would become one of the missions of my literary endeavors.
