摘　　要：The museums of southeast Turkey(Upper Mesopotamia:see Fig.1)contain a wide range of Roman-era funerary monuments with Greek inscriptions,the most common type of which is the stele.They come in many varieties:some are plain;others feature mouldings,pediments,acanthus decorations,rosettes,sculpture,or combinations of such elements.
