The prehistoric Taiwan residents were the ancestors of the Gaoshan ethnic groups in modern times.Based on the materials of archaeology, history and ethnology, this paper analyzes the tooth extraction types of the Gaoshan ethnic groups in Taiwan. There are two main types of tooth ex-traction in prehistoric Taiwan Gaoshan ancestors:First,CⅠ^(2)Ⅰ^(2)C,which remove the left and right maxil-lary incisors and canine teeth;second,Ⅰ^(2)Ⅰ^(2),which remove the left and right incisors. From Han Dynasty to pre modern times, the main type of tooth extraction of Taiwan Gaoshan ancestors isⅠ^(2)Ⅰ^(2),which re-move the left and right maxillary incisors. Then there are mainly four types of tooth extraction among the Taiwan Gaoshan ethnic groups in modern times:first,IPP,which remove the left and right maxillary incisors;second;CⅠ^(2)Ⅰ^(2)C,which remove the left and right maxillary canine teeth and lateral in-cisor;third,P^(1)CCP^(1),which remove the left and right maxillary canine tooth and first premolar;fourth,CC,which remove left and right maxillary canine teeth. From the perspective of the types of tooth extrac-tion,the ancestors of Taiwan's alpine ethnic groups have a long history of tooth extraction customs,it last constantly for thousands of years.
