摘　　要：美国作家弗兰岑的新作《十字路口》以小说中希尔德布兰特一家各成员所面临的道德困境,书写了1970年代初新旧交替的美国社会中的伦理危机。在齐格蒙特·鲍曼后现代伦理学的框架下观照该作品,可以发现小说人物理性指导下的善举以自我为中心,充满悖论色彩,而个体非理性的道德冲动则有可能带来对他者和社会正义的责任感。作家探究美国社会分裂的根源、提出带有乌托邦色彩的解决方案,不仅体现出现实主义文学对社会问题的关切,也是一次后现代伦理学意义上的思考。Through the moral dilemma of the Hildebrandts, American novelist Jonathan Franzen, in his 2021 novel Crossroads, presents 1970s American society at crossroads and in ethical crisis. Through the lens of Zygmunt Bauman’s postmodern ethics, this paper argues that the characters’ striving for “goodness” is compromised by rationality and self-centeredness, and is thus paradoxical. Their irrational moral impulses,however, may develop into a responsibility for the Other and eventually social justice. By exploring the reasons behind the splits in American society and offering utopian solutions,the novel fuses the social concerns of realism with postmodern ethical insights.
