摘　　要：使用CHARLS 2015年的数据研究了彩礼支付对农村父母健康的影响。研究发现,父母为孩子支付的婚姻成本越高,其身体健康与心理健康越差。机制分析表明,短期内,较高的彩礼支付导致父母承受巨额债务而因债致病;长期内,一方面,父母高额的彩礼支付未能显著提高子代对其的代际支持;另一方面,高额的彩礼支付增强了父母的“养儿防老”意愿而降低了社会养老参与程度,加重了父母家庭养老与社会养老的双重缺失困境。进一步分析发现,浓厚的儒家文化在一定程度上能改善彩礼支付对父母健康的不利影响,父母与子女同住有益于缓解彩礼支付对父母心理健康的负面影响。Using the data of CHARLS in 2015,this paper studies the impact of bride price payment on the health of rural parents.The study found that the higher the marriage cost parents pay for their children, the worse their physical and mental health.The mechanism analysis shows that in the short term, higher bride price payment leads to parents bearing huge debt and causing disease due to debt;In the long run, on the one hand, parents’ high bride price payment can not significantly improve their offspring’s intergenerational support;On the other hand, the high bride price payment enhances the parents’ willingness to“raise children and prevent old age”,reduces the degree of social pension participation, and aggravates the dual lack of parents’ family pension and social pension.Further analysis shows that strong Confucian culture can improve the adverse impact of bride price payment on parents’ health to a certain extent.Parents living with their children is beneficial to alleviate the negative impact of bride price payment on parents’ mental health.
