摘　　要：Pathogenic human coronaviruses induce apoptosis in infected cells.Caspase-6 activated under apoptotic conditions proteolytically cleaves the nucleocapsid protein into IFN-I antagonists that enhance virus replication,suggesting that caspase-6 has a proviral role in the coronavirus life cycle.
