Objective By validating a mediation model, we aimed to examine the mediating role of mental resilience in between the academic stress and test anxiety among senior high school students in a milieu of public health emergency. Methods A total of 500 senior high school students based in three Yunnan cities(Kunming, Ruili, and Wenshan) were recruited by cluster sampling to complete the Academic Stress Questionnaire,Psychological Resilience, and Test Anxiety Scale in December 2021. Results(1) When controlled for gender, age and demographic variables, public health emergency(β=0.198, P<0.05), and personality traits(β=0.092,P<0.05), stress perception imposed significant positive effects on test anxiety(β=0.622, P<0.05) among the senior high students in the milieu of public health emergency.(2) Mental resilience played partial mediating roles in public health emergency and stress perception as two independent variables(P<0.05), and a full mediating role in personality traits(P>0.05) of the students. Conclusion Academic stress among senior high school students in a milieu of public health emergency can impact on their test anxiety directly or through the mediating effect of mental resilience.
