卡莱尔与劳伦斯文化历史观比照研究

摘　　要：英国19世纪文豪托马斯·卡莱尔的文人知识观早已引发世人瞩目。卡莱尔的社会观重视现代社会维系所需要的道德风尚和伦理纽带,批评现代社会奉行唯利是图思想和功利主义哲学的危害。国内学界没有过多关注他的文化历史观。研究发现,同为世纪圣贤的戴·赫·劳伦斯与卡莱尔历史观相似,都表现出对现代社会机器文明的深恶痛绝,两者的文化观同样值得关注。鉴于此,本文从比较文学视角出发,对照卡莱尔与劳伦斯的文化历史观,藉此勾勒出卡莱尔文化观的内涵和实质。The view of literati knowledge of Thomas Carlyle,a great British writer in the 19th century,has attracted worldwide attention.Carlyle’s view of society attaches great importance to the moral customs and ethical ties needed to maintain the modern society,and criticized the harm of pursuing mercenary ideology and utilitarian philosophy in the modern society.Domestic scholars pay little attention to his view of culture and history.It is found that D.H.Lawrence and Carlyle,who are both the sages of the 20th century,have the same historical views,both of which are deeply abhorrent to the machine civilization of modern society.In view of this,this paper compares the cultural and historical views of Carlyle and Lawrence from the perspective of comparative literature so as to outline the connotation and essence of the cultural view of Carlyle.
