摘　　要：在其代表作《法国中尉的女人》中,约翰·福尔斯着意突出人物所处的性别空间、阶级空间和权力空间,深究小说空间叙事的政治表征、政治意指和政治内涵。借由列斐伏尔的空间政治辩证法来看,不论是在性别视角下最终远离意识形态的大自然,还是在有意暴露阶级差异的府邸和乡间,抑或是在人物突破权力和空间共谋结构的过程中,小说中的空间都不再是一种作为客体的存在,而是由重重政治实践所造就,甚至进一步成为了作家揭露政治问题和表达政治诉求的有力武器。John Fowles,in his masterpiece The French Lieutenant’s Woman,focuses on describing the different spaces the protagonists inhabit:the space of genders,the space of classes and the space of power.The political representation,signification and implication of,in virtue of Lefebvre’s dialectics of space politics,the nature free from ideologies by the gender perspective,the class distinction in the mansions and the countryside deliberately exposed by the author as well as the protagonists’ breakout from the collusive structure of space and power,illustrate that space in novels no longer exists as an object since it was built up by politics.Therefore,space is a powerful weapon for the writer to unmask the political problems as well as express his political contention.
