As China enters the critical period of economic transformation, how to achieve high-quality development of innovation has become a realistic problem that needs to be solved.Based on evolutionary economics and technology breadth, this paper divides technological diversification into relevant technological diversification and unrelated technological diversification, and explores the relationship between technological diversification and agglomeration of producer services. An empirical test is conducted based on the data of city-level invention patents from 2003 to 2019.The results show that agglomeration of producer services can effectively promote regional technological diversification. With the agglomeration of producer services, the region is more likely to realize unrelated technology diversification than related technology diversification. The driving effect of agglomeration of high-end producer services is significantly greater than that of low-end producer services. At the same time, regional human capital level and population agglomeration have a positive moderating effect.
