摘　　要：华盛顿•欧文的“西部三部曲”是审视美国争夺俄勒冈、落基山脉地区地缘政治版图的经典文本,其西部书写与彼时大陆扩张主义的国家观念构成共谋关系。《大草原之旅》《阿斯托里亚》以及《博纳维尔上尉探险记》表征了欧文对密西西比河以西的“空白”地带从地理探险、毛皮贸易到帝国共同体的阶梯式认知过程。欧文的“西部三部曲”显露出疆线西移和民族征服的帝国话语,与彼时“自由帝国”、杰克逊主义等主流话语不谋而合,目的是为联邦政府将西部地区纳入帝国地理版图擂鼓助威。Irving’s“Western Trilogy”is a classic text for examining the geopolitical territory of the United States in Oregon and the Rocky Mountains,and his Western writing conspires with continental expansionism at that time.A Tour on the Prairie,Astoria and Adventures of Captain Bonneville represent Irving’s stepwise invasion in the lawless interval in the west of the Mississippi River from geographical expedition,fur trade to the imperial community.Owne’s“Western Trilogy”reveals the imperial discourses of the westward movement and national conquest,which coincides with the mainstream discourse such as“Empire of Liberty”and Jacksonism at that time.the purpose is to encourage the federal government to incorporate the Western region into the empire’s forces.
