摘 要:晚清通俗小说中以上海作为故事背景的作品不胜枚举,此类小说展现了晚清时期,上海在欧风美雨浸润下其都市化、世俗化的城市风貌。通过对马路、街景、妓院、茶楼等诸多地理意象的描述,可以窥探晚清上海这座城市的文化内涵、世人精神与社会风潮。独特的上海地理意象不仅支撑晚清通俗小说自身的结构,具有一定叙事功能,还见证了晚清上海社会历史的变迁,使上海地理意象具有文化意义与独特的美学价值。本文将以晚清著名吴语小说《海上花列传》为例,探讨地理意象在文本中的叙事作用及审美文化意义。There are numerous works of popular fiction set in Shanghai in the late Qing Dynasty,which show the urbanised and secularised style of Shanghai in the late Qing Dynasty,under the influence ofEurope and America.Through the description of many geographical images such as roads,street scenes,brothels and teahouses,we can get a glimpse of the cultural connotations,the spirit of the people and the social trends of the city in the late Qing Dynasty.The unique geographical imagery of Shanghai not only supports the structure of the popular novels of the late Qing Dynasty and serves a certain narrative function,but also witnesses to the social and historical changes of Shanghai in the late Qing Dynasty,which makes the geographical imagery of Shanghaihave cultural significance and unique aesthetic value.This article will take the famous Wu language novel Shanghai Flowers as an example to explore the narrative role and aesthetic and cultural significance of geographical imagery in the text.
