中美博士学位论文英语摘要中推断副词的对比研究——以语言学和石油工程为例

摘　　要：推断副词用于表达作者对所推测事宜的确信程度。本研究基于自建语料库,以400篇语言学和石油工程的中美博士学位论文英语摘要为研究对象,从归纳和演绎两个维度对比中美博士生使用推断副词的情况。研究发现:中美博士生对推断副词的使用频率存在显著性差异,表现出文化差异;中美博士生都主要使用了归纳类推断副词,不过,相较于中国博士生,美国博士生更倾向于使用演绎类副词,表现出思维模式差异;推断副词的使用频率存在学科差异,语言学领域比石油工程领域所使用的推断副词频数更高,但石油工程领域使用演绎类副词的占比大于语言学领域。该研究结果对我国英语学术论文写作和教学有一定的启示作用。Inferential adverbs express the author's certainty of his/her inferences.Based on self-built corpus,this paper reports an intercultural and interdisciplinary study of inferential adverbs used in 400 English abstracts of doctoral dissertations in linguistics and petroleum engineering written by Chinese doctors and their American counterparts from two dimensions-induction and deduction.The results show that 1)there are significant differences in the frequency of inferential adverbs,which may be caused by the cultural differences;2)inductive inferential adverbs are mainly used by both sides,but American doctors have a stronger tendency to deductive adverbs than Chinese doctors,showing the influence of different thinking modes;3)there are significant differences between disciplines in terms of frequency of inferential adverbs.Although the frequency of inferential adverbs in linguistics is higher than that in petroleum engineering,the proportion of deductive adverbs used in petroleum engineering is larger than that in linguistics.The findings will shed light on English academic writing and teaching in China.
