Homesickness is an important factor affecting the strength of an army.In order to ensure the combat effectiveness of the army, the CPC took a variety of measures.Contacts between soldiers and their families generally included correspondence and personal visits. To deal with correspondence, the CPC enhanced the inspection of the content of letters and the management of letter delivery. To deal with family visits, the CPC managed to reduce their negative impact on the one hand, and provided as much convenience as possible for the family members, took care of their livelihood, covered related expenses, and encouraged communication between the cadres and the soldiers’families on the other. Finally, through the care for the soldiers’families as well as education on the soldiers themselves,a positive interaction between the front and the rear was established to minimize the negative impact of familial sentiment. The CPC’s handling of the problem of soldiers’familial sentiment reflects the complex situation involving emotions and revolution, individuals and groups, and many other aspects.Together, these constitute the richness and complexity of the CPC’s revolution.
