摘　　要：夏家店上层文化的发现与研究始于20世纪初,一些日本学者在辽西地区进行考古调查,1935年日本东亚考古学会发掘赤峰红山后遗址,1938年出版的《赤峰红山后一一热河省赤峰红山后先史遗址》①成为当时该地域最重要的考古报告。日本人的考古学调查保存了一部分第一手考古资料,并取得了一些重要研究成果。新中国建立后,1959年刘观民等学者在赤峰附近做了短期的田野调查,经过研究,认为尹达所称的“赤峰二期文化”并不单纯,可能存在两种考古学文化。在夏幕、苏秉琦等先生分析后,也支持这种观点,并赞同挖掘夏家店、药王庙遗址。随着边疆民族地区考古工作的展开,遗址的发掘和出土实物增多,一批专家学者投身于科学研究之中,经过六十余年的不懈努力,大批学术成果相应诞生,包括各类调查记录、考古发掘报告、研究论文等,夏家店上层文化逐渐被学界所清晰认知。夏家店上层文化的研究与诸多问题息息相关,对中华民族多元一体的形成、欧亚草原之路都有重要影响。The discovery and research of the upper Xiajiadian culture began in the early 20th century.At that time,some Japanese scholars carried out archaeological in-vestigations in the Liaoxi region.In 1935,the Japanese Society for East Asian Archaeol-ogy excavated the Hongshan site of Chifeng,and Hongshan Culture in Chifeng subse-quently published in 1938 became the most important archaeological report of the region at that time.The Japanese have preserved some of the first-hand materials of archaeolog-ical surveys and made some important research achievements.After the founding of New China,Liu Guanmin and other scholars conducted a short-term field survey near Chifeng in 1959,through which they came to believe that what Yin Da called"the second phase of Chifeng culture"was complicated,and that there might exist two kinds of archaeological culture.Scholars like Xia Nai and Su Bingqi supported this belief after some analysis,and agreed to excavate the ruins of Xiajiadian and Yaowang Temple.With the develop-ment of archaeological work in frontier minority areas,more sites and unearthed objects have been excavated,which attracted a group of experts and scholars who devoted them-selves to scientific research.And more than 60 years'continuous effort has contributed to a large number of academic achievements,including various investigation records,ar-chaeological excavation reports,research papers,etc.And thus,the upper Xiajiadian culture has gradually been clearly recognized by academic circles.It can be concluded that the study of the upper Xiajiadian culture is closely related to various problems,and has an important impact on the unity of the pluralistic society of the Chinese nation and the Eurasian steppe.
