摘　　要：海明威的小说按照冰山原则将事件的前因后果放到水面以下,由读者来追溯和推断。海明威尚未终结的四部短篇小说中的女性形象虽然各不相同,但她们简单的愿望均受到身边男子的阻碍。根据当时社会的主导观念和故事发展逻辑推断,这些女性的追求将落空。海明威以客观而冷静的笔触将经历了妇女解放运动后一些觉醒而找不到出路的美国妇女的处境展现出来,这些女子的命运无解暗示着真正的妇女解放是一个漫长,复杂而艰巨的过程。In his novels,Hemingway follows the Iceberg Principle of putting the causes and consequences of the events below the surface,leaving it to the reader to trace and deduce.The women characters in Hemingway’s four short stories with open endings are different,but their simple wishes are all hindered by the men around them.The women’s hopes would be dashed inferred by the dominant social perceptions at that time and the logical development of the story.Hemingway writes objectively and dispassionately about the plight of American women who had awakened after the Women’s Liberation Movement and were unable to find a way out,which shows that Women’s Liberation is a long,complicated and hard process.The inexplicable fate of these women implied that true liberation of women was a long,complex,and arduous process.
