摘 要:This study examines the economic growth-electricity linkage in Uganda while controlling for some major determinants of economic growth by employing quarterly data from 2008Q1-2021Q3 using the Auto Regressive Distributed Lag(ARDL)approach. We find evidence for the feedback hypothesis implying that Uganda’s economic growth and electricity consumption influence each other. Therefore, the paper recommends that Uganda establish and enforce policies that promote the efficient use of electricity, thus promoting sustainable economic growth. It should also increase electrification in the country to boost the economy.Notably, the government should explore solar energy and other energy sources to complement hydroelectricity, thus enhancing economic growth.
