Patients with chronic pain have always been a challenge in clinical management, and the comprehensive evaluation of patients with chronic pain is particularly important. Most patients with chronic pain are accompanied by different degrees of autonomic nervous function disorders.Heart rate variability(HRV)is a simple, easy and non-invasive quantitative assessment method for autonomic nervous function. The application of HRV,in painful diseases has been increasing year by year.It has a certain role in clinical comprehensive evaluation of patients and evaluation of curative effects. This article reviews the research progresses on heart rate variability in patients with chronic pain diseases.
