晚清西文文献中的海宁观潮研究

摘　　要：通过对晚清西方人士海宁观潮活动及相关文献的调查研究发现,晚清时期在海宁观潮的西方人士以英国人居多,包括商人、军人、探险家等,他们利用传统的水上交通工具,对航路沿线的海宁自然景观——涌潮和各类人文景观进行了详细的考察,这不仅增进了海宁与国际的交流,也为民国观潮旅游业的兴起和发展奠定了基础,所留下的各类西文文献更是成为研究海宁潮文化的珍贵史料。Through investigating and researching related literature on Westerners Haining tidal wave watching during the late Qing Dynasty,it is found that the Westerners who watched the tidal wave in Haining at that time were mainly British,and their identities included businessmen,soldiers,explorers,etc.They used traditional watercraft to inspect in detail the natural landscapes(especially the tidal wave)and various cultural landscapes in Haining along their routes.This activity not only enhanced the communication between Haining and the world but also laid the foundation for the rise and development of tidal wave watching tourism in the Republic of China period.Their documentation has become precious historical materials for the study of the Haining tide culture today.
