摘　　要：大时代里的个体,其生命存在的复杂性和心灵世界的丰富性,尚未真正进入历史研究者的视野,而一些著名个体的精神世界的精细研究亦大多被忽略。这些年或有将生活史的理念、方法引入出版史学研究,具有重要的建设性意义。本文通过张元济致张树源的81通书札中所述及的若干琐事,尝试挖掘作为出版家张元济的个性、思想和感情。张元济、张树源叔侄的信函,不仅是一个著名出版家和一个普通知识人的家庭叙事,也是一部抒写温情、表达慈爱、教育儿女的家史,其中既有传统的孝道,也包含现代的伦理。叔侄二人在信中亦有他们对生命以及世界各种现象所展开的思考,很能代表那个时代知识人的生活底色,是一种真正的生活文化。对这些书札文献的解读,有助于观照张元济作为一个卓越的出版家生活史的另一个面相。大历史背后总是有着无数的个人史,构成了大历史的丰富肌理。在张元济与其侄子的通信里,我们可以看到在时代的大历史之外,作为一位出版家和普通的知识人,他们是如何凭借个体的努力,不断对话现实,书写着个人的小历史,可谓是一部“信箱里的民间生活史和社会史”。The current scholarship has not paid enough attention to the complexity of life and the richness of the spiritual world of individuals who lived in the great transitional age.Even the spiritual world of some famous individuals has been largely ignored.In recent years,scholars have introduced the methodology of life history into publishing history.This paper attempts to explore the personality,thoughts,and feelings of Zhang Yuanji as a publisher by reading his 81 letters to his nephew Zhang Shuyuan.The letters are not only a family narrative between a famous publisher and an ordinary intellectual,but also a family history of expressing warmth,tenderness,and education ideas,which contains both traditional filial piety and modern ethics.The letters between the uncle and the nephew have conveyed their thoughts on life and worldly phenomena,which well-reflected the living background of the intellectuals at that time.It is a real life-culture.The letters are helpful for scholars to observe another aspect of Zhang Yuanji's life history as an excellent publisher.There are always numerous personal histories behind the grand history.In the correspondence between Zhang Yuanji and his nephew,we can see how they constantly talked to the reality and wrote their personal little histories with their individual efforts.It is a"folk and social history in the mailbox".
