摘　　要：在《历史》序言的开篇章中,塔西佗以极洗练的文笔勾勒出一幅罗马历史书写在长达8个世纪中的兴衰史。塔西佗指出,随着专制时代的到来,罗马历史学家曾经拥有的两个最杰出的品质——“文采飞扬”和“独立不羁”消散了。在批评了当代历史学家及读者不恰当的写史及读史取向后,塔西佗袒露了自己在《历史》一书中持有的撰史立场及其晚年的写作计划。对本段详细释读,能够帮助我们加深对罗马帝国早期历史学家、历史写作和帝国政体之间复杂关系的认知。尤其重要的是,这段序言为我们观察塔西佗在《历史》写作之初所持有的政治思想,提供了一个绝佳窗口。The present paper,analyzing the opening chapter of "Preface to Histories",in which Tacitus looked back at the history of Roman historiography,bemoaned the loss of two prominent features of Roman historiography,namely,libertas and eloquentia,due to the rise of highly-centralized power system,and confided his own position and plan regarding Histories,attempts to shed some light on the complicated relationship involving the historians of early Roman empire,historiography,and imperial politics.
